Abstract

Heritage Impact Assessments have become an essential tool for the architectural conservation of World Heritage Properties in recent years. To this end, the institutions responsible for overseeing management have been setting the pace by issuing methodological guides. Between the publication of the Guidance on Heritage Impact Assessments for Cultural World Heritage Properties in 2011 and that of the Guidance and Toolkit for Impact Assessments in a World Heritage context in 2022, ten years of continuous updating of the procedures have passed, reflecting the evolution of World Heritage management, for which the guidelines set out in the Faro Convention on the value of heritage for society (2005) set a milestone of reference.
